This 7 Day Tanzania Family Safari is a private safari that caters specifically for families travelling with children. This great value-for-money tour offers families a well-rounded Tanzanian safari experience.
Starting and ending in Arusha, the itinerary highlights Tanzania's iconic Northern Circuit game reserves - Tarangire, the Serengeti, Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro Crater. The Tanzania Family Safari departs on demand and is subject to availability.

Day 1 Arrive Arusha
On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) you will be greeted by your English speaking driver/guide who will transfer you to your hotel for (1) night on a bed and breakfast basis. The modern S.G. Hotel is located approximately 55km/34mi from the airport and 2km/1.2mi from central Arusha. The hotel's suites include Wi-Fi, a mini bar, satellite television and a writing desk. The remainder of the day is yours to spend at leisure - relax with a cool drink by the pool while the children swim, and dinner is available (own account) at the hotel's restaurant. Day 2 Arusha to Tarangire
After breakfast your driver/guide will meet you at your hotel at 08:30hrs and, following a briefing about your trip, will transfer you by road to Tarangire National Park. Situated 118km/75mi southwest of Arusha, the journey will take approximately 2 hours passing through Masai Land, the Monduli District and Makuyuni Village. After entering Tarangire around midday, enjoy a picnic lunch and afternoon game drive. While game spotting be sure to keep an eye out for the unique fringe-eared oryx, a species of antelope found only in small pockets of East Africa
Your destination for this evening is Maramboi Tented Camp where you will stay for (1) night on a full board basis. Maramboi, located just outside of Tarangire National Park, accommodates guests in spacious thatched ensuite safari tents with stunning views of the Rift Valley and Lake Manyara. The camp also offers a pool, lounge area and a viewing deck in an attractive palm tree setting. Accommodation: Maramboi Tented Camp. Meal plan: Breakfast, Picnic Lunch, Dinner.

Day 3 To Lake Manyara
After breakfast in camp, today's road journey to Lake Manyara National Park will take around 1 hour. After entering the park via the southern Lyambi Ranger Post, enjoy a picnic lunch and afternoon game drive as we head north through the park. Lake Manyara's scenery is simply breathtaking and the park is renowned for its tree-climbing lions and 'big tusker' elephants. Manyara's birdlife is also exceptionally diverse and large water birds which inhabit the soda-ash lake include pelicans, cormorants, storks and seasonal flocks of pink flamingos.

Your accommodation for tonight will be at the delightful Farm House Valley Lodge where you will stay for (1) night on a full board basis. Farm House Valley, located on a coffee farm in the village of Karatu, offers superb panoramic vistas of the Ngorongoro Mountain Highlands. Guests are accommodated in spacious ensuite villas and the lodge grows and serves its own fresh produce. Accommodation: Farm House Valley Lodge. Meal plan: Breakfast, Picnic Lunch, Dinner.

Day 4 Lake Manyara to Serengeti
Enjoy breakfast at the lodge before heading off through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area to Olduvai Gorge, one of the most important paleoanthropological sites in the world. The word Olduvai originates from the Maasai word 'oldupai' referring to a wild sisal plant that grows in the area. Enjoy a picnic lunch at the gorge before proceeding to the Olduvai Gorge Museum founded in the late 1970's by the esteemed British paleoanthropologist, Mary Leakey. The Museum offers a fascinating insight on the Leakey family and the significant contribution they made to the study of human origins at Olduvai Gorge. After entering the Serengeti National Park via the Nabi Hill Gate, the afternoon will be spent on game drive exploring the infamous 'endless plains' of the Serengeti. Tanzania's oldest wildlife reserve and a World Heritage Site, the Serengeti is renowned for the Great Migration, an annual journey of 2 million wildebeest, zebra and Thomson's gazelle that circulates around the Serengeti and Kenya's Maasai Mara.

Depending on the season your accommodation will be at Kati Kati Tented Camp or Grumeti Migration Camp for (2) nights on a full board basis. Kati Kati, a mobile tented camp strategically located in the Central Serengeti, offers guests an authentic safari camping experience - and an exciting adventure for the kids! All tents are ensuite and solar powered lighting adds to the ambiance. Grumeti Migration Camp offers guest's luxury tented accommodation in the Grumeti Wildlife Reserve situated in the northern Serengeti. Accommodation: Kati Kati Tented Camp or Grumeti Migration Camp. Day 5 Serengeti
After breakfast in camp, enjoy an action-packed day on game drive in the Serengeti with your choice of a picnic lunch in the wilderness or a hot lunch served at camp. The Serengeti, considered by many as the ultimate safari destination, is a paradise for nature-lovers and photographers and an abundance of resident wildlife, migration activity and predator-prey interaction will keep you captivated.

The Serengeti has large predator populations including lion, leopard, cheetah and hyaena and, kids, keep an eye out for your favourite characters from the Walt Disney feature film The Lion King which gained inspiration for its creation from the Serengeti and its incredible wildlife. Day 6 Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast in camp, today's destination is yet another of Tanzania's spectacular natural wonders - Ngorongoro Crater. Named by the Maasai as El-Nkoronkoro - 'gift of life' - the crater is the world's largest inactive volcanic caldera and its rich, fertile soils produce exceptional grazing. Experience phenomenal views from the craters 610m/2000ft high rim and superb game viewing on the crater floor which is dominated by open grassland as well as two small pockets of acacia woodland. Lake Magadi, a seasonal soda lake, occupies the centre of the crater and is a magnet for hippo and magnificent waterbirds including the endangered grey crowned crane. A huge diversity of wildlife roams the crater including the critically endangered black rhinoceros, sizable populations of lion, leopard and hyaena, impressive 'big tusker' elephants as well as cheetah, wildebeest and zebra.

The majority of the day will be spent enjoying a tour of the crater, exploring this amazing masterpiece of nature from top to bottom! A picnic lunch will be provided. Your accommodation for this evening will be at Ngorongoro Farm House or Farm House Valley Lodge in the village of Karatu where you will stay for (1) night on a full board basis. Day 7 Ngorongoro to Arusha
Enjoy breakfast at the lodge before embarking on today's journey to Arusha at 08:00hrs. The road trip will take you through the village of Karatu where you will have the opportunity to browse souvenirs at the Kilima Tembo Shop, a great place to purchase traditional items such as woodcarvings, artifacts, masks and jewellery. A picnic lunch will be provided enroute as you pass through the Great Rift Valley and the colourful village of Mto Wa Mbu. Upon arrival in Arusha at around midday, your driver/guide will bid you a warm farewell at Kilimanjaro International Airport as your unforgettable Tanzania Family Safari draws to a close.
